The Useless Tree: Friday I Ching: Bush Will Rebound
Sam Crane asked Yi how Bush should handle whatever the fallout may be from the latest political scandals, and received 16 changing to 24. He’s interpreting this less as what Bush needs to do, more as how things will work out for him. I’d be more inclined to say that how things work out depends on whether or not he can avoid the trap of 16, line 1, ‘Enthusiasm calling out’, and manages to recapture his role as inspiring leader, at line 4.
Stephen Karcher describes 16.1 as ‘trying to get others to take care of you’; Wilhelm calls it boasting about one’s connections. It sounds generally like a lot of loud reaction without much substance. And I don’t know nearly enough about US politics to be able to tie it down further.
And hexagram 24… needing to get ‘back on track’… For a very interesting take on what that means, see this latest post from Allan Lian
